Royal wedding in EnglandAlthough the wedding anticipation is over, the world cannot look away from the beautiful details. The royal wedding was watched by about two billion people this passed Saturday, but everyone continues to look further into Her Royal Highness Meghan and His Royal Highness Prince Harry’s past and future.

Royals and celebrities alike dressed in their lovely attire and flashed smiles beaming with happiness to attend a day marked in history. The former Meghan Markle revealed her dress, and of course everyone has their opinion. She chose a very understated dress compared to HRH Diana and HRH Catherine, but I think we all can agree her new approach to everything is refreshing.

Honoring Harry’s late mother at the wedding:

All brides and grooms that have lost parents search for sweet ways to incorporate their memory into the special wedding day, and this is always important to coordinators at Events By Jaclyn. The royals are no different. Prince Harry and the duchess honored Princess Diana in more ways than one.

The world has never forgotten Princess Diana, and Prince Harry decided to honor his mother in a few ways that touched all of our hearts. As stated by USA Today, Prince Harry said, “It is days like today when I really miss having her around and miss being able to share the happy news.” Harry was only twelve when his mother died in a car crash, and it is very apparent the brothers still mourn the loss of their mother.

Forget-Me-Nots were in Meghan’s bridal bouquet as they were Diana’s favorite flower. The flower arrangement was small and still followed the trend of Diana and Catherine’s white and green bouquets. Prince Harry said that he picked flowers from the garden which represents how wonderful of a mother Diana was to teach such grace.

Although there was a chair left empty during the live broadcasted wedding ceremony, this was not to honor Princess Diana. This was reportedly left empty, so the queen, who sat in the second row, had a clear view. Diana’s three siblings were invited to the wedding, and Lady Jane, Diana’s sister, gave the only reading at the wedding.

Meghan’s engagement ring is commonly known to incorporate some of Diana’s diamonds. The two side diamonds came from Diana’s broach, but the center engagement ring stone is from Botswana and was chosen by Harry at Cleave and Company. Harry added in and interview with BBC that he wanted “to make sure that she’s with us on this crazy journey together.” Future grooms, take note!

There were a few “something blue” touches to the royal wedding. Meghan wore Diana’s blue cocktail ring  and drove in a blue jaguar to the reception. However, it is not reported yet if the ring was a wedding gift from Harry or her “something borrowed”.

The hymn “Guide me, O Thy Great Redeemer” sung at the wedding was also sung at her funeral, and some say this seemed to make Harry emotional. We think it is a thoughtful way to make a new memory for the hymn as well as honor Diana in a happier light.

Familiar faces in the chapel:

Prince Harry has set a new standard for wedding guest lists. Similarly to his older brother, Prince William, Harry invited his ex-girlfriends. Chelsy Davy and Cressida Bonas were in attendance at the royal wedding. It has not been reported if Meghan invited her ex-husband or not.

Now to most, it seems uncomfortable, but Harry and his exes are said to still be friends. The royal wedding has an astronomical influence on weddings to follow, so this leads event planners around the world to ponder. We will have to see if brides and grooms decide to imitate the royals inclusiveness.

Meghan Markle’s new official title:

Meghan Markle is now known as Her Royal Highness Meghan, Duchess of Sussex. Queen Elizabeth II granted her grandson, Harry, a new title on their wedding day too. He is now His Royal Highness Harry, Duke of Sussex.

It seems that plenty of people are making the mistake of calling Meghan Markle a Princess. She may look and act like one, but she does not officially have that title. On the other hand, Diana was officially Her Royal Highness Diana, Princess of Whales on her wedding day.

Similarly, Catherine, Prince William’s wife, is not a Princess either, while many continue to refer to her as one. She is officially referred to as Her Royal Highness Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge. All in all, we have learned that titles are given to royals on their wedding day as a gift from the monarch.
