Here at Events by Jaclyn, we are always working on new and creative ideas for the most special day of the year for your kids. All children deserve a well-planned birthday event to remember. Today there are plenty of ideas from Pinterest, Facebook and Instagram.  But some of our little ones have their own ideas on how to celebrate their day.  You would be surprised to hear the unique and original ideas they come up with.  Just ask them!

The consultation (party planning):

As we meet with the parents to plan the party, we are open to new ideas.  Some of our kids are attracted to the movies of the day or to a party they have attended.  From unicorns to bumblebees, the sky is the limit.  Most of our themes come from the child’s favorite toy or from the stimuli they are introduced to through school or through online movies, cartoons, etc.

Bring your child to the planning meeting:

We do allow the child to attend the planning meeting.  This will make any child feel special.  Believe it or not, they have some worthwhile suggestions, even as small as three years old.  They know what they like and by the age of three they are already choosing a favorite color.  They have favorite plush toys at home and know the animals they love best.  There is no reason to leave them out of the planning stage. It is after all … their day!

How about a statement backdrop?

A statement backdrop is usually displayed somewhere near the cake table.  It is an announcement displaying the child’s name and can be draped with the child’s favorite color.  It can be a printed backdrop, a backdrop created by a professional or just a backdrop created by a family member. You can add colorful balloons in the background or add anything that compliments the backdrop theme colors. Adding a few stuffed animals to the backdrop is a cost-effective tip to save money.

Developing the unique theme:

Stationery can be created to match the backdrop and child’s unique color palette. Everything from the invitation to the thank you notes can be done to match the unique backdrop theme.  To remain cost-effective, It is not so important what material you use to make the backdrop, as long as it looks pleasing and pleases the child.

Drip cakes:  A new trend for kids birthday parties:

Drip cakes are the rage right now.  Although they do thrill the kids, if you are not an experienced baker you might pay for this new delicacy. They can be topped with beautiful flowers, and filled with delicious flavors.  Chocolate drip cakes are the most popular choice.

No more character inspired events:

This year, parents are moving away from character-inspired parties and moving toward more unique themes that offer an opportunity to have a one of a kind party for their little ones.  If your child has no ideas to share, it is always a safe option to go with their favorite things.  A  favorite toy or a favorite animal is a good place to start for kids younger than three years of age.

Interactive Food Stations:  A great idea for party fun

Interactive food stations are another way to be creative and to add fun into the party scene.  How about a food station to make your own taco?” A few more suggestions might include a cupcake decorating table, sundae bar or a dessert table. Always popular is a chocolate or vanilla flowing fountain.  Having on hand, just next to the fountains, add a fruit platter full of strawberries and other healthy fruit choices for dipping.
