Summer corporate events do not have to be repetitive or predictable. There are endless ideas that are just calling our name this month as June and July can be a testing time for parents looking for ways to entertain kids out of school or employees experiencing major “fomo”. Hydration station:
First off, for both children and adult events, be sure to dedicate an area to a hydration bar. Alcoholic drinks are welcome, but it is dire to include plenty of water. Trendy recipes for fruit infused waters or smoothies are drowning the internet and can easily help avoid overheating issues.
Because some children do not drink enough water, provide slip-and-slides or kiddy pools at your summer event to ensure that children are not overheating. For alcoholic drinks, provide an interesting presentation. Create homemade ice buckets with flower petals to keep your liquor bottles cold, and you’ll no doubt impress all the “Martha Stewarts”.
Classic BBQ with a twist:
Now that we have the safety talk out of the way, let’s talk party. Every family deserves a bbq to get everyone together and have a little reunion, but there are many ways to add a few quirks. For starters, every bbq requires a mouth-watering buffet table.
Instead of having no structure or flow to the buffet, introduce subtle signs. This year, planners are loving edible instructions. For hamburgers, use a ketchup squirt bottles and write the temperatures such as “well” or “rare”.
Kid and corporate events:
For bonding and boosting morale, corporate events can be the answer. During summertime when everyone is taking a vacation, events for employees and family members truly lift spirits. Here are great ideas for corporate summer events for all ages.
Golf tournaments make great corporate events. This idea isn’t too kid friendly usually, but twist things up a bit and have family members at each hole rooting on the employees. Afterwards, have a casual lunch indoors to cool off the players and to acknowledge the employees’ hard work.
For an “All American” theme, have a baseball game with families watching in the crowd cheering everyone on. This can be a great idea for small businesses that do not have funding for large events. Simple food choices such as hot dogs and popcorn can play off the theme and provide a trip back in time to childhood.
Within every company, there is at least one or two musicians or possibly even a band. It’s a very fun and inclusive idea to ask those talented coworkers to display their talent and entertain at a fun concert event.
