The Mid-Century Modern wedding theme has been trending for several years.  This theme is enjoying a comeback since using this theme could cut costs for those traveling to Orlando for their destination wedding.  This unique style began in the 1950s and early 1960s and was considered a very cool retro-style, full of whimsy and sass. It featured bright colors, sleek lines, simple wood and organic elements of nature.

This chic wedding theme is seeing a resurgence and it is always for brides to mimic other moments in time.  Our team welcomes all wedding themes and unique ideas for that fairytale Orlando wedding every girl dreams of.  The Mid Century theme is especially appreciated by those brides with an eye for the unusual. We all love vintage themed events and the fall season in Central Florida is a perfect time of the year to go with this retro-style theme.

Large wedding versus small:

A bride who is planning this special Mid-Century type of wedding is looking for an intimate and friendly wedding celebration. Larger weddings are not her style. Her wedding could be in a comfortable family home, a garden setting or an old farmhouse.  She is looking for charm and warmth as she plans her special day.  This small gathering is preferred versus the large crowd with its’ pomp and circumstance.  With smaller events, there is less chance for special moments to be lost in time.  It is also more cost-effective for the cost-conscious bride of today.

Ceremony seating options:

The Mid Century Modern ceremony decor should feature a blend of the old and new decor.  A great idea is to use a combination of mixed retro-style seating.  Use long benches and Mid Century Modern Chairs for seating at the ceremony site. If the weather permits you can easily set Mid Century comfortable furniture outside. If there is a lounge area at the venue, overstuffed sofas, Mid Century Modern furniture pieces.  Check with your nearby rental company to find out what options are available to you.

Nature plays a part:

Both indoor and outdoor venues work well with Mid-Century Modern weddings and nature plays an important role.  If weather permits, most of these wedding ceremonies are held in the beautiful sunlight surrounded by family and friends. For others, a sunset wedding filled with candlelight and the deep tones of sunset is the perfect way to say “I Do” What could be more romantic?

Wedding attire for the bride:

As the bride chooses her wedding dress, she may keep in mind the retro styles of the 1950 and 60s will complement her Mid Century theme. She might choose an elegant, cool tea-length gown (with a shorter hemline). We have noticed that brides around the globe are considering a shorter gown, even those tying the knot in France (with the Eiffel Tower for a backdrop.)

As hemlines become shorter,  gowns of different colors are also making a come back.  Soft ivory, pink and silver, the sky is the limit.  Shorter hemlines and gowns of many colors are sure to make a unique statement. The groom could complement the bridal attire by wearing a white or a gray suit with suspenders or a great bowtie following the colors for the wedding theme.

Choosing the flowers:

For floral touches throughout the wedding space, the mid-century bride of today might choose a very feminine color palette.  Bouquets and centerpieces of vibrant purples and pinks would be found at a mid-century wedding as well as touches of yellow, orange and green.  These colors could also be used to build a small, beautiful arch for the nuptials.

Table and reception decor

The mid-century modern nuptials are built around the love of friends and family. The ceremony site is constructed using only mid-century chairs for seating purposes. A suggestion for aisle decor is to use planters filled with soft pastel blooms. Instead of a red carpet, this is a fitting way to dress up the path for our mid-century bride.

Our couple will be using other farmhouse inspirations such as wooden candle holders for the wedding and table decor. A true blend of the old and the new works well while keeping it clean and minimal.

Conclusion: Stay with simple, natural touches:

A mid-century modern wedding is simplistic with natural and organic touches of the old and the new. This modern retro-style event fits the bill for those looking to save money and yet experience a simply modern vibe. Adding the bride’s own whimsical touches makes the day her own.

Be Safe This Halloween:  Tips

Congrats and have a great Halloween holiday ahead.  Stay safe as you enjoy trick or treating with the kids.  Be careful if you plan on walking in neighborhoods that are near traffic-filled streets.  Wear costumes that stand out at night (bright and reflective).  Since masks can block your child’s vision try using a decorative hat or choose a safer alternative.  Add the child’s makeup at home for a unique and custom look.
