We have great venue choices for your local and destination wedding in Orlando. No venue is complete without adding beautiful flowers to the ceremony space. Flowers enhance any ceremony site, and today, our Orlando wedding coordinator will be discussing choices for summer and fall brides.

Your Orlando wedding coordinator will assist you in choosing the right floral decor for the season. Flowers popular for this season include asters, anemones, chrysanthemums, cornflowers, and the ever-popular calla lily.

The first step is to choose a perfect venue for the occasion.  We boast many in-door and outdoor venues in Central Florida, starting with our famous tourist destinations such as Walt Disney World and Universal Studios.  Those looking for an outdoor garden ceremony might consider beautiful Leu Gardens.  You may prefer a church of your faith or even a historical venue such as the Maitland Art Center.

Once the venue has been booked it is time to choose the florals for your dream wedding.  Look for the flowers you are most attracted to and use those to start your planning session with our representative.  At the consultation, we will discuss some of the florals listed below.

The Aster flower:

These are beautiful, small flowers that resemble the popular daisy. They bloom in late-summer This flower is from the buttercup family and has bright colored flowers.

Anemones:

This plant is from the buttercup family, which have brightly colored flowers. Anemones are normally found in the wild and are grown in many gardens around the country.

Chrysanthemums:

This flower is part of the daisy family.  It is very popular for weddings and has beautiful, bright blooms of many colors and varieties.

Cornflower:

The cornflower (or bachelor’s button) is an annual flower native to Europe.  In the past, it was found in cornfields which is how it got its name.

Calla lilies:

One of the top choices for summer and fall nuptials are calla lilies.  These flowers are perennial bulbs and come in a variety of colors.  They don’t survive well in cold winter climates so Central Florida is the perfect place to use these beautiful blooms year-round.

The calla lily flower is shaped in the form of a funnel and very pretty in bridal bouquets.  This flower originated in Africa and grew in marshy areas.  The white calli lily flowers are the most fragrant but this flower also comes in pink, red and yellow.

Lavender flowers:

Another top choice for outdoor venues for summer and fall is the lavender flower. This can add a sweet chic feel to your nuptials.  It can be incorporated with other summer blooms to create its own unique look.  It has an amazing fragrance to fill the wedding space with an aroma of romance and charm.

Other flowers, not listed include orchids, dahlias, delphinium, freesia, geraniums, larkspur, Queen Anne’s lace, roses, and sunflowers.

How to keep flowers fresh in the heat:

Summertime in Central Florida can be humid and very hot.  Because of this, your flowers can become overheated and wilt in the heat. As we choose summer flowers to use for outdoor venues it is important to keep the blooms cool until the hour of the event.  Store the flowers in the coolest space possible.  Keep the flower bouquets away from vents or from drafts.  Keep the temperature consistent until they are ready to use and remove any plastic coverings.

What to do when the flowers are wilting:

If your flowers for the wedding get a bit wilted, just snip the stem at an angle about one inch from the cut end of the flower.  Add about three teaspoons of sugar to lukewarm water in a vase and put the wilted flowers in the vase.  This should revive them nicely.

Planning a beach wedding with florals:

What could be more carefree than to choose a glorious beach wedding?  We welcome wedding groups from around the globe here in Orlando and we are only a short ride away from many great Central Florida beaches. Consider a beautiful floral arch using many of the flowers listed above.  But this is only the beginning.

Additionally, you could add a few palms, seashells and other ocean colored elements.  As event planners, we often include the passionflower in beach wedding setups to add to the seashore feeling.  Any of these ideas will work well to create a sea-inspired wedding space.

Along with the beautiful blooms listed, we only need to add the backdrop of the ocean to complete the scene (a dreamy choice for beach lovers).  For the bridal bouquet, you could consider mixing seasonal flowers with other flowers available year-round in Florida such as a variety of colorful roses.

We will be happy to arrange a meeting with a cost-effective florist we recommend.  We can discuss the pros and cons of ordering fresh flowers or silk arrangements.  We have everything you will need right here in our fair city.  We can also go over some DIY options to save money.
