North Carolina WeddingsDiscussing southern traditions for North Carolina brides:

One of the beautiful traditions for our North Carolina brides is for moms to give their daughters a handkerchief for the wedding day tears.  For single guests, a popular southern tradition is to take home pieces of the groom’s cake. They then place a piece of the cake under their pillow to evoke dreams of the person they may someday marry.  Here are a few others of interest:

  • Bridesmaids carry parasols
  • Having a groom’s cake at the wedding
  • Preparing a bridal portrait to show off at the reception
  • Men wear light colored attire
  • Women wearing pearls
  • Southern style beverages for the reception

A bit of North Carolina History:

North Carolina boasts the first English child born in America.  The first public university was opened in our Tar Heel State, and the first successful airplane flight occurred in our fair state by the Wright brothers.  We are home of the legendary Baby Ruth, and our Biltmore Estate is the largest single family home in America.  In North Carolina, we honor the southern traditions and we offer ceremonies in many styles, both traditional religious and civil services.  The majority of our destination weddings in North Carolina opt for formal or for a semi-formal event.  They love choosing our historical buildings and the most popular theme for those getting married at the Biltmore Estate is a theme based upon the Great Gatsby movie.

North Carolina WeddingsA special winter wedding venue in Asheville, NC:

Sharing a special moment with all of you, I have chosen to have my own wedding in Asheville, North Carolina.  I dreamed of a winter wedding and the venue known as “My Beloved Homewood” stood out among the rest for myself and my fiancee.  It is an elegant and romantic castle featuring hardwood floors, beautiful alabaster sconces and wrought iron chandeliers in the main wedding hall.  The main wedding hall has 20 foot ceilings and Homewood is located in the historic district of Montford, only one mile from downtown Asheville.

They furnish tables, chairs, buffet and bar set-ups.  Champagne toasts, beer and wine is served at the reception.  A preferred list of caterers are available for floral design, photography and music. However, my fiancee’s grandfather is traveling from Orlando to perform our wedding music since he is a classical pianist.  Sterling Photography from Orlando is our photographer and we are also welcoming Bullhorn Media company who will be capturing our wedding video.

Once our wedding is over we will be sharing images from the Homewood venue.  We hope by sharing, that others may consider the great venues of Asheville, NC for their wedding day. Thanks for stopping by and we wish all of you a happy Thanksgiving ahead.  Enjoy family and friends and stay tuned for more next time.
