In previous blogs, we discussed the 12 month wedding-planning checklist. What do you need to do before your wedding day? We covered months twelve to six. Today’s blog will be about the to-dos five and four months out from your wedding day.

Five months before your wedding day:

before your wedding dayLet’s talk transportation. If you’ve asked guests to travel from out of town, they should not have to pay a large taxi or uber fee. A good rule of thumb according to Brides, “If it’s going to run them $20 or more- especially if you’ve already asked them to travel for a destination wedding- think about a shuttle bus.”

Imagine spending a few hundred dollars to get to a wedding, and you have to pay $45 for a uber just to get to the venue. That is no way to put your guests in a good mood ready to celebrate your love. If a shuttle bus won’t work because guests are staying at multiple hotels or air bnbs, consider a car service.

On the topic, include any information for prepaid transportation in the invitation. If the venue includes free overnight parking, include this as well. Offer as much information as possible before your wedding day to avoid confusion or last minute text messages.

Five months before your wedding day is the time to book the bride and groom’s transportation. Whether it be a tandem bicycle, classic car, or hot air balloon ride, book it. Booking the honeymoon is the next big to-do.

If you are still looking for good deals or rates for a honeymoon, chances are you missed them already.  You may opt for a staycation or a month long around the world trip. Whatever it may be, it’s time to book the honeymoon.

before your wedding dayThe groom’s entrance, or whichever partner is entering first, is a major first impression of the ceremony. He or she must abide by the formality of the event. Suit, tux, or jeans and button up? Decide on the look.

Next, decide if the best option is to rent or buy. No one will know if you are renting the tux until you tell them. In most cases, you may get the entire ensemble for a fourth of the price by renting.

If the groom desires a tail and gloves, go ahead and rent. Unless he budgeted a grand or will be attending future black tie events, you’re better off going to Men’s Warehouse or another rental option. Likewise, check out new rental services online.

Premarital counseling:

Whether you come from a religious background or not, it’s time to start premarital counseling. It may sound uncomfortable, but with the right person, you can bring up concerns safely. You two, as a couple, can constructively work on sensitive topics before your wedding day.

Especially if you’ve never dealt with a very hard time yet, a counselor, therapist, or pastor can bring up future conflicts peacefully. You will also be aware of possible future arguments that many couples experience trouble with.

Fun fact: some states offer discounts on a marriage license if you go through with marital counseling.

Four months out:

This month is the time for a final caterer tasting. By now, I would hope you, you have signed a contract with the caterer and just about finalized the menu. It’s a fantastic idea to bring along a wedding planner or family member to the tasting.

Some brides or grooms may just be so excited, they forget to give their true opinion. If something isn’t spectacular, mention it. Customization can be made too.

Mention if you have new allergies or restrictions. You may have started the new Keto or paleo diet. Remember this might be your last chance to make any menu changes before your wedding day.

If the cake arrangements have not been made, bless you. It is time! Look up Pinterest favorites and explore new flavors at a cake tasting.

Once you have decided on a baker, lock them in. Select the flavors and size of the cake. Hopefully, your baker or cake designer will have the time to design a rough draft of the cake on paper with you present.

Truly delve into your dreams and wishes. The wedding cake is almost as important as the wedding dress. It will carry on your theme and express your personalities. Stay clear of vanilla, vanilla, and vanilla cakes.

This month, buy the wedding bands. Request the groomsmen to have a fitting as soon as possible. Go back on Pinterst or family wedding albums for wedding hair inspiration.

Book a wedding hair and makeup trial before your wedding day. Take pictures of yourself. You want to look and feel beautiful but also look and feel yourself.
